Looking for bears
While on location in Japan earlier this month we had the great fortune of visiting this ancient Buddhist temple in the hills above the Gion district in Kyoto. Founded in 798 the present buildings date from 1633, help and amazingly are built entirely without the use of nails.

Conde Nast Traveler sent us to southern Utah to shoot the Amangiri Resort for their 2013 Gold List Issue and we are thankful they did. If you’ve never been to that part of the country it’s an experience I can recommend without hesitation. A beautiful and serene landscape, truly peaceful and awe inspiring.

The good folks at WSJ Magazine sent us to shoot this charming couple, medicine Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch of Roman and Williams, case at the top of their newest project, the Viceroy Hotel on West 57th St in NYC.

The secret (and the issue) is out, the good folks at CN Traveler sent us to one of the most beautiful spots I’ve ever seen to photograph the ritzy Amangiri Resort for their January 2013 Gold List issue.
If you have a chance to go to the resort you’re very lucky indeed, if not it’s worth it to just visit that part of southern Utah/northern Arizona as the landscape is breathtaking – calm, quiet, spiritual, ancient and transporting.

Another fun shoot for the WSJ, this time at the reopening of the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial and Hall of North American Mammals at the Museum of Natural History here in NYC.
After treating them in the lab Museum conservator Julia Sybalsky expertly places the real pronghorn droppings (from Wyoming) in the Elkhorn Ranch diorama.
